The Clifton Stamp Society is proud to announce its two forthcoming shows for 2011. We are also proud to announce that we are including coin and currency dealers into the mix for each show. Our Spring 2011 show will be held on Saturday April 30 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sunday May 1 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM while our Fall 2011 show will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 10:00AM to 5:00PM, and on Sunday, September 25 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM at the Clifton Community Recreation Center, 1232 Main Avenue @ Washington Avenue, Clifton, NJ. Admission & Parking are free.
Combining the world of stamp, coin, cover, currency and postcard collecting, the show
provides collectors and non-collectors alike with an excellent opportunity to view
and appreciate the challenge and variety that these hobbies offer as either individual
or family pastimes. All our participating dealers possess a broad and diverse level
of knowledge which they are happy to share with others. In the best tradition of a
well-rounded show, collectors will be able to leisurely examine stamps, coins, covers, currency, postcards, supplies and collateral materials from all areas.
At our both of our shows, we will have separate door prizes for our Saturday and Sunday attendees. Both days’ winners will be notified by mail or telephone. Sample periodicals and other information will be available at no charge. The US Postal Service will be available with a variety of new and recently issued stamps and
Stationery. A special show postmark will also be available.
Established in 1985 by the Clifton Stamp Society, it is one of the
only regularly scheduled show of its kind covering Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Union, and Morris Counties. It has, since its inception, become a gathering place to exchange knowledge with others, and to renew old and make some new friendships.
Stamp and cover collecting were born almost simultaneously with the issuance of the world’s first adhesive postage stamp by Great Britain in 1840. Postcard collecting can trace its roots back to the early part of the 20th Century. Coin and Currency collecting are also exciting hobbies that attract many philatelists. All these hobbies are interesting, entertaining, highly educational, and they can be tailored to just about any budget. Perhaps best of all, they can be an escape from the present, if for only a short time.
